Participating in their 1st Cumbrian Challenge!
I did it!!!
Hey everybody. So for all those who knew, as well as for those that did not.. I spent last weekend just gone, up in the lake district, enduring a gruelling 26km hike for the veteran's charity, Walking with the wounded. Well, I'm pleased to say - I completed it!!!
Now, If anyone would have asked me 12 months ago if I'd be doing anything close to this hike this year, I'd have thought you'd have eaten, drunk, or smoked something funny!!! As I came off morphine last February, and off my aircast boot and really tall crutches in march, thinking at the time that I was lucky to be standing and taking a couple of steps at a time, let alone thinking that in just over a year, I'll be the closest to the sun without flying in decade's, scaling the monster climb of a hill/mountain, nor travelled almost 19 miles, even without going cross-country.
So I've had some achievements this weekend that I hadn't achieved since i was over 20 years younger, and had never thought I'd be able to do again, let alone with a cracking and lively bunch of people from our great company. So thank you to the rest of #teamdxc for welcoming me into the fold this weekend, and I'll be waiting to see the routes for next year, before fully deciding which one I'll do, but i will be back
For everybody who had so generously donated to this great charity and cause already, Then may I so simply and humbly say a heartfelt thank-you to you all. And for people who was thinking of donating, or who may now consider doing so - Please do!!!. There are some great people from every part of the charity, especially in the background, who do so much to help veterans.
It is not too late to donate folks. You just click on or copy and paste the link below and it'll take you to my fundraising page, where your donation will contribute towards helping make a better life for a veteran. Thank you everybody!!! J X.

40 hours until our big event!!!!
Over £500 donated so far!!!WOW!!! What can I say??? I am truly humbled by all the donations that you all have so kindly given towards my fundraiser so far. No matter the size, every amount will go some way to helping one of our dear veterans in their time of need. It is still not too late for anybody to donate to such a worthy cause. All these donations are motivating me so much and this disabled veteran cannot wait to get over the finish line
Training already underway..
I'm supporting our wounded. Are you with me?
I've joined a team taking on the Cumbrian Challenge - to support those who served. We're taking on a big walking route around the Lake District alongside teams of veterans who are getting their lives back on track thanks to Walking With The Wounded.
My ask is quite simple. Please dig deep, or sign up a team to take us on.
Why? We're the lucky ones with jobs, families, homes. Most people leave the military without any issue, but for a small minority it isn't so easy.
Walking With The Wounded support the veterans who are struggling with their mental health, who are hard to reach, socially isolated, homeless, in police custody... men and women with little to look forward to but who want to get back into society and employment – which is at the heart of what WWTW does.
Please help me and my team hit our £2k target. Every £988 we raise could fund a course of therapy, giving a veteran the tools to support their mental health needs now and in the future. Starting within 4 days of referral - imagine that.
Thank you so much in advance for your support.
